AUE Advanced Service Training Courses cover:

  • Overview of clinical applications and features
  • Systems theory of operations and system level block diagrams
  • Software architecture

Hands-on sessions in Advanced Service Training courses include: clinical applications training, performing Evidence-Based Quality Assurance and PM’s that meet and exceed ACR standards; removal and replacement of electronic and mechanical assemblies, and repair/exchange parts identification. The student leaves with a training manual and flash drive that provides reference information they will find very useful when they leave the class.

Introduction to Diagnostic Ultrasound

This 2 ½ to 3 day class provides the student with the knowledge it takes to do preventive maintenance on virtually any diagnostic ultrasound system and lays the foundation for advanced service training. The course includes basic ultrasound theory, ultrasound physics, clinical applications of ultrasound, and the theory of operation and block diagram components common to all ultrasound systems. We also discuss the various probe types and how to do performance testing of the system and probes.

Note: Class fees include take-home training materials. Not included are airfare, hotels, local transportation, and meals.

About Primary Instructor Jim Carr

Jim Carr has over 40 years of experience in diagnostic imaging in the disciplines of engineering, field service, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, product development and technical support, with companies including Technicare, Johnson and Johnson Ultrasound, and Acuson. Most recently, he has provided leadership for the technical operations and quality systems at multivendor service organizations; as the executive director of service programs for Unisyn Medical Technologies and as VP of operations and quality at Sonora Medical Systems. Technically trained and experienced on multiple imaging modalities, Jim is regarded as a technical expert on diagnostic ultrasound systems and transducers. He has been a frequent presenter of seminars and workshops at biomedical and clinical engineering meetings on subjects such as testing and quality assurance of ultrasound systems and developing a support strategy for diagnostic imaging equipment.
